TENCENT Lands China First ‘Wind Power + Photovoltaic + Energy Storage’ Data Center Microgrid Project
TENCENT (00700.HK) -2.400 (-0.600%) Short selling $732.86M; Ratio 14.008% (TCEHY.US) +1.080 (+2.143%) announced the successful landing of China’s first “wind power + photovoltaic + energy storage” integrated data center microgrid project in Huailai County, Hebei Province, with a total installed capacity of 10.99 megawatts (MW) and an annual generating capacity of 14 million kilowatt hours (kWh).
The project is predicted to reduce carbon emissions by nearly 8,000 tons and save more than RMB3.5 million in electricity costs per year, marking an important step in Tencent’s efforts to promote the green transformation of its data centers. At this juncture, the green power of Tencent’s self-built data centers already accounts for 71% of the annual electricity consumption.
