SK Telecom partners with Arm, Rebellions for AI data center solutions

SK Telecom said on Friday that it has partnered with the British chip design company Arm and the Korean AI chip startup Rebellions to collaborate on AI data center solutions.

Under a tripartite memorandum of understanding, the three companies will jointly develop AI inference server solutions by combining Arm’s newly launched AGI CPU and Rebellions’ upcoming AI accelerator chip, which is scheduled for release in the third quarter, according to SK Telecom.

The solutions will be tested and verified at SK Telecom’s AI data centers.

Arm’s AGI CPU is optimized for high-density inference environments and large-scale AI deployment, while Rebellions’ chip, named RebelCard, is designed for large-scale AI inference.

SK Telecom said that combining CPUs and AI accelerator chips is widely regarded as an efficient server architecture for data centers that run large-scale AI services.

SK Telecom also plans to operate its sovereign AI foundation model, A.X K1, on those servers.

Lee Jae-shin, the head of AI business development at SK Telecom, said:

By offering a full package that combines infrastructure optimized for inference with our sovereign AI foundation model A.X K1, we will further enhance the competitiveness of our AI data centers,
