Sines data centre “vital for intercontinental connectivity” – DE-CIX.

German internet exchange operator, DE-CIX, which operates Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), announced today that it is now offering interconnection services at Portugal’s Sines Data Centre (Sines DC) in the Setúbal region. This is the “largest data centre campus in Europe, with 1.2 GW of energy capacity for IT servers, located in Portugal”, the company said in a statement. This new point of presence (PP) in the neutral facility developed by Start Campus “marks a significant expansion of DE-CIX’s presence in Portugal“, as “the extension of the DE-CIX distributed platform from Lisbon to Sines will support the digitalisation of local companies, providing access to high-performance interconnection and cloud connectivity, as well as empowering DE-CIX’s current and future customers with greater geographic diversity, resilience and network performance“. It also marks the beginning, perhaps, of the rehabilitation of Start Campus’ image, following focus on the company during the Operation Influencer furore.
