Proofpoint plans to establish a new data centre in Singapore by 2025 to enhance the city-state’s cybersecurity infrastructure.

The new data centre will enable Singapore-based customers to comply with local data residency policies while leveraging Proofpoint’s cutting-edge, human-centric cybersecurity solutions.

These solutions are designed to combat advanced threats such as ransomware, business email compromise and social engineering attacks.

The new facility will house Proofpoint’s Threat Protection platform, which utilises AI and machine learning technologies. This multi-layered system is designed to neutralise sophisticated cyber attacks, including email fraud, ransomware, weaponised URLs, and credential phishing.

George Lee, Senior Vice President of Asia Pacific and Japan at Proofpoint, said:

As Singapore confronts an increasingly complex threat landscape driven by cloud adoption, remote work, and rapid digitalisation, our primary focus is providing human-centric cybersecurity solutions.

He pointed out that with the surge in data generation and the tightening of data residency regulations, protecting sensitive information has never been more crucial.

“As cyberattacks become more sophisticated, businesses must adopt multi-layered, cloud-native security to protect both people and data from emerging threats, while ensuring that information remains securely within the country,” he said.

The Singapore data centre will be Proofpoint’s 28th worldwide, following the launch of its Australian facility in 2023.
