Prometheus Hyperscale, PureWest Energy and Frontier Infrastructure to Enable Zero-Carbon Power Solution for Flagship Wyoming Data Center
Next generation, hyperscale data center developer, top Wyoming natural gas producer and local carbon removal solution provider create innovative partnership
EVANSTON, Wyo. and DALLAS and DENVER, May 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Prometheus Hyperscale (“Prometheus”), a leading developer of sustainable hyperscale data centers, PureWest Energy, LLC (“PureWest”), Wyoming’s largest natural gas producer, and Frontier Carbon Solutions, LLC (“Frontier”), a Tailwater Capital portfolio company and leader in carbon capture and storage, announced today a first-of-its-kind partnership focused on driving innovation and sustainability while contributing to Wyoming’s long-term economic growth.

Together, the three companies plan to deliver carbon-neutral, flexible power for backup, balancing and baseload use — tailored to the unique needs of high-density data environments. PureWest will be Prometheus’ preferred partner for verified low-carbon and low-water intensity natural gas, and Frontier will be the preferred provider of high-quality, biogenic source carbon removal.

By using PureWest’s verified low-carbon natural gas and combining it with Frontier’s traceable carbon removal credits, Prometheus will offer tenants dispatchable, flexible generation with a zero-carbon footprint and end-to-end traceability — at a scale and economic profile superior to many emerging alternatives. Frontier’s carbon credits will be generated by capturing biogenic carbon dioxide from various facilities across the Mountain West and transporting liquid CO2 to Frontier’s carbon sequestration facility in Southwestern Wyoming. Prometheus’ Wyoming project is planned to be 1.2GW with a unique ability to increase significantly. The first phase of Prometheus’ data center campus will seek to utilize over 500,000 tons per annum of carbon removals.
