One of the two new data centers in Vilnius is already ready for use – Made in Vilnius
Last week, a new data center near the state was added to the list of data centers Vilnius airport – the so-called VDC4 is already ready for operation, its manager, the Lithuanian Radio and Television Center (Telecentras), announced on Tuesday.
Officially opened at the end of September, VDC4 became the fourth data center operating in Lithuania.
The Telecenter statement states,
This data center is fully ready for operation, its capacity (96 server cabinets) is completely sufficient for the current needs of state institutions,

Last week, the government adopted by-laws regulating data protection, allowing VDC4, one of two new state data centers that were recently unveiled to the public, to become operational.
Aušra Pranckaitytė, chairwoman of the Telecentro board, in the announcement, said :
Telecenter is fully prepared for the implementation of this resolution. Soon, after approving the catalog of services, we will start hosting the servers and data arrays of the state organizations whose information resources are planned to be consolidated,
At that time, VDC3, located near the Television Tower, has not yet been issued a construction completion certificate, so it is officially considered unfinished.
The telecenter assured that the construction of VDC3 has already been completed and the object is currently being handed over to the State Spatial Planning and Construction Inspectorate.
According to the institution, this data center with 128 server cabinets will start operating after the construction deed is signed and the Government grants it the status of a state data center – hopefully by the end of the year.
At the end of September, two new stores worth more than 20 million were officially opened in Vilnius. EUR worth of state data centers, to which the data of several hundred state institutions and organizations are expected to be transferred.
Minister of Transport Marius Skoudis has said that new data centers could help the state save up to 40 million. euros per year if data stored in insecure servers were transferred to them. According to the Ministry of Transport, both state institutions spend annually on inefficient, decentralized IT infrastructure maintenance.
Previously, it was planned that the construction of the data centers started in February 2023 would be able to receive the first servers and data arrays at the end of last year.
