Investment will be increased to 90% of data centers installed in Querétaro – Mexico
Ninety percent of the data centers installed in Querétaro have expansion projects in the state, either in the same spaces where they are or in new land, said the director of the Mexican Data Center Association (MEXDC), Adriana Rivera.
He said,
They are all obviously interested in developing industry ,
In the entity, 111 megawatts of capacity are installed in the 21 data centers that are operating.
He said,
There are other companies that want to come to Mexico and are looking for the opportunity to be there and to be able to reach this state that opened the door to us from the beginning,
He emphasized that of the 73 projects that will be installed in the country until 2029, at least 50% will be in Querétaro. He stressed that this will represent a direct investment in the country of 9,192 million dollars, and an indirect investment of 27,576 million dollars.
He said,
I am only giving you public data because there is confidential data that companies have and we cannot provide, but of these 73 that have been announced or that we have proof that will be done, half want to be in Querétaro,
He stressed that the data center industry has grown with the interest of companies to have data available closer to users, which implies improving latency, which means accessing data faster.
He said,
Starting in 2019, and not knowing that these three chaotic years for humanity would come, the industry focused on developing further in that year, 2019,
He stressed that the entity has distinguished itself for being pro-industry, for the specialization of talent, its location in the center of the country and its proximity to ports; in addition to the fact that it is not prone to natural disasters.
He said,
As it is a pro-industry state, we have highways, we have railways, we have airways, and we have fiber connectivity, so all of these qualities make Querétaro very attractive,
He mentioned that they are also seeking clear regulation of the industry and thereby generating certainty.
He mentioned,
The state collaborates, not by giving away permits but by telling you what you have to do and what you have to present to me for evaluation, but I assure you that I will evaluate them and I will not leave them in a forgotten drawer ,
He stressed that the main challenge in the state is to have sufficient energy, however, they see that both the state government and the federal government are willing to support them.
He said,
Today, the Federal Electricity Commission and the Energy Control Center, which is CENACE, know us, they know that we are requesting energy and they are supporting the projects. We have an open door with the federation to create synergy,
