Colombia , certifies the center as a true “Green Data Center”, standing out for its advanced
sustainable practices and its commitment to reducing environmental impact, positioning it as a model of responsible IT infrastructure in Latin America.
This certification, awarded by the International Computer Room Experts Association (ICREA), is based on rigorous criteria that include the use of high-efficiency servers, renewable energy and low-carbon technologies.
In this case, aspects such as electrical installations, air conditioning, civil works, metrics monitoring, redundancy and availability, operation and maintenance were evaluated. These measures guarantee sustainable operation and resource optimization, highlighting continuous measurement to minimize waste and maximize energy efficiency.
Fernando Maturana, General Manager of Gtd Colombia, says :
This achievement motivates us to continue working towards environmental responsibility, creating projects that are compatible with our environment, to strengthen our existing strategies and make new proposals that allow us to continue innovating in our processes, contributing to the optimization of resources and energy efficiency,
Sustainable initiatives of Gtd Colombia
This new achievement adds to all the milestones that the company reached during 2024. A year in which it positively impacted more than one million Colombians who are working remotely, offering high-quality and secure connectivity through its fiber optic network, which covers around 2,500 kilometers in 10 departments and more than 45 municipalities in Colombia, with a growth of more than 20% in the number of links with its own Fiber Optic network throughout the national territory.
In addition, the company has promoted the expansion of satellite links, improving connectivity in rural areas with limited internet access.
This initiative has been key in reducing the digital divide in the country, bringing quality services to regions that previously did not have an adequate connection. An example of this was the recent donation of a Starlink antenna to the Chicoral Music School Foundation Musicoral in the municipality of La Cumbre, Valle del Cauca.
