Foothills County residents are invited to an open house over land redesignation – Stantec is applying, on behalf of Beacon Data Centres, to redesignate land
There is a plan to redesignate some land in Foothills County.
Because of that, there is an Open House for people to learn more about the proposed plan.
Stantec is applying, on behalf of Beacon Data Centres, to redesignate land within the Foothills Crossing Area Structure Plan from an Agriculture District designation to a Business Park District.
By doing so, the land will be approved to be used to build a Data Centre, which is a large-scale facility that is designed to house extensive computer systems and associated components.
The facility will support cloud computing, data security, data storage, management, and the processing of digital media, information, and applications.
According to the Foothills County website, this new data centre will help to create jobs at a local level through construction and operational jobs, as well as increase tax revenue for the County, which will fund public services and infrastructure projects.
The open house will take place on December 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Highwood Centre in High River.
No registration is required to attend the event, as there will be no formal presentation, and people are able to drop in at any time.
