envia TEL expands capacities in the Leipzig data center.
The regional telecommunications service provider envia TEL is expanding the capacity of the Leipzig 2 data center and is starting with the expansion of the third and fourth construction phases. A highly secure environment for a further 20,000 servers will be created on an area of 1,000 square meters. and individually configurable IT security areas will be created on an area of 1,000 square meters. Commissioning and the move-in of the first customers are planned for summer 2025.

The first two construction phases, also covering a total area of 1,000 square meters, have already been fully marketed. In total, the data center offers space for around 40,000 servers on an area of 2,000 square meters .
In the future, it is planned to use the waste heat from the data center for a sustainable heat supply for the city of Taucha. To this end, following a city council resolution of June 13, 2024, a letter of intent was signed to seal the cooperation between the city and the enviaM Group to develop heat concepts. The use of the waste heat is already being prepared by installing a waste heat extraction system on the property boundary.
The Leipzig 2 data center, which went into operation at the end of 2020, has a comprehensive security and fire protection concept as well as 24-hour monitoring by its own control center directly on site. It is redundant in many ways connections and has a power and air conditioning supply with multiple security features. The electricity is sourced 100 percent from renewable energies.
Since autumn 2022, the internet exchange DE-CIX and ensures an even faster connection of the Central Germany metropolitan region to the global data networks.
envia TEL operates the two data centers Datacenter Leipzig 1 and 2 on the Datacenter Campus Leipzig with a total area of 3,000 square meters and space for around 60,000 servers .
