ADI Data Center Euskadi adds new partners and begins construction of a centre in Gipuzkoa

ADI Data Center Euskadi has started construction of a centre in the Guipuzcoan town of Mondragón , which will be added to the one already being built in Bizkaia. In addition, the entry of new partners has been confirmed through a capital increase that incorporates Kutxabank, Iberdrola , Mondragon and the provincial councils of Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa into the project , which will be added to the Basque Government, Teknei, Dominion , Euskaltel and Gertek.

The Garaia Technology Park, in Arrasate-Mondragón (Gipuzkoa), is the location chosen for the implementation of a new data center, led by ADI Data Center Euskadi, an entity created to support the digital transformation of companies and institutions in the Basque Country.

The addition of Kutxabank, Iberdrola, Corporación Mondragon and the provincial councils of Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa to its shareholding has also been confirmed . The works in Garaia mark the start of the second phase of this project, the first infrastructure of which has a capacity of 2 MW and will come into operation during the first quarter of 2025.

Built on the Abanto campus of the Euskadi Technology Park in Bizkaia, work is progressing at a rapid pace with the aim of starting its activity in the first quarter of next year , they said in a statement.

Following the recent additions, the Data Center Euskadi, SL company will be made up of the following partners: Basque Government, Teknei, Dominion, Euskaltel, Gertek , Kutxabank, Iberdrola, Mondragon, Seed Capital Bizkaia and Seed Gipuzkoa.

The main motivation for launching ADI Data Center Euskadi is to provide the territory with the necessary infrastructure to enable the development of the technological-digital transition , taking into account the strategic importance that data management and its sovereignty have for any organization.

The aim is for Basque companies and institutions to have technological infrastructures that allow them to develop the best strategies in the adoption of new technologies such as the cloud, artificial intelligence, IoT or others , with full security guarantees at a time when the digital transition is vital in many areas of the business.
